Department for rehabilitation of patients after stroke

Prime activity of the Department for rehabilitation of patients after stroke is comprehensive rehabilitation of patients with consequences of cerebral vascular disease. The treatment is based on contemporary findings of healthcare science, neuro-therapeutic techniques, treatment of comorbidities and complications, systematic assessment of functional abilities and knowledge of technical aids.
The department offers rehabilitation to patients with impairments in two or more areas of functioning, i.e. activities of daily living, mobility, communication, cognitive abilities, emotional functioning. The patients need to have stable health condition and need to be physically capable of attending the programme for at least 3 hours daily as well as have satisfactory communication and learning abilities.

Our purpose is to maximally use the patient's remaining abilities and decrease his or her disability. Our goals include gradual improvement of the patient's endurance, strength and mobility, independence in moving and basic activities of daily living, functional communicating, enhanced cognitive abilities, psychological support in dealing with the consequences of the disease, encouragement of social reintegration and acceptance of roles at home, in family, leisure and professional life.
